The Legacy Fund
When the people who create the culture need a safety net.
A dedicated fund providing structured assistance to Kenyan creatives facing serious health, mental-health, disability, emergency or other life circumstances that materially affect their ability to work and live.
Eligibility
Clear criteria, applied consistently.
- Working creative professionals and creative industry workers based in Kenya.
- Circumstances that materially affect the ability to work or live with dignity — serious illness, injury, disability, mental-health crisis or emergency.
- Verifiable need, supported by documentation reviewed under confidentiality.
- Applicants across the ecosystem, on stage and behind it — from performers to technicians and road crew.
What the Fund Covers
Emergency Intervention
Rapid, time-bound assistance where a crisis threatens health, housing or safety.
Healthcare Assistance
Support routed to hospitals, clinicians and verified providers for treatment and recovery.
Mental Health Support
Confidential access to counselling and mental-health professionals.
Rehabilitation & Recovery
Longer-horizon support that helps a creative return to work where that is possible.
Application Process
How support is assessed.
- Application
A creative, or someone acting on their behalf with consent, submits a request with the circumstances and any supporting documentation.
- Assessment
Applications are reviewed against published eligibility criteria by an independent assessment process, separate from fundraising.
- Decision
Decisions are recorded with reasons, conflict-of-interest controls applied, and applicants are notified directly and privately.
- Disbursement
Where approved, support is generally paid to verified providers rather than as unrestricted cash, and is tracked to outcome.
- Follow-up
Outcomes are recorded anonymously and feed the Foundation's public impact reporting.
Governance & Accountability
Governed, accountable and transparent by design.
Separation of powers
The people who raise money do not hold unchecked authority over who receives it.
Conflict-of-interest controls
Declared interests are recorded and conflicted parties are recused from decisions.
Confidentiality
Beneficiary identity is protected. Impact is reported; private circumstances are not.
Public reporting
Funds raised, funds deployed, creatives supported, outcomes, operating costs and reach.
Impact Reporting
Reporting begins with the first disbursement.
As the Fund deploys support, we will publish funds raised, funds deployed, creatives supported, programme outcomes, operating costs and reach. Beneficiaries stay confidential; the numbers do not.
